Pam Shriver Achieved Her First Victory. Japanese Players Made Good Showing.

Japanese player Etsuko Inoue (Kaneshiro), Akiko Kijimuta, and Kumiko Okamoto showed good performances, which gave the basis for the future Japanese players. Etsuko actually participated the first, fourth and fifth Toray PPO Tennis (4th and 5th were the Quarter-finalist). The winner was the 1st seeded Pam Shriver.
