Sharapova Claimed the Title, the 10th Toray PPO Tennis Winner.

The participants were filled with stars; ranking No.4 Maria Sharapova achieved her first Grand Slam title in Wimbledon in 2004, PPO 2004 winner and ranking No.1 Davenport, US Open winner Kuznetsova as new comer, and Asagoe who advanced to Semi-finals as the 2nd Japanese in 2001.
The 1st seeded Davenport and the 2nd seeded Sharapova faced at the Final. Sharapova won the very close game at the full set tie-break, and became a new champion.
